The PHS Boys JV Soccer team defeated the Northridge High JV squad 3-0 Wednesday night at Stanley-Jensen Stadium in Prattville, Alabama. The game was tightly contested for most of the match. The Lions got on the board quickly when Donovan Renn slipped a pass through the defense to John Hollis. Hollis collected the pass and ripped a shot into the lower left corner of the goal. After the two teams battled back and forth for 22 minutes, Hollis collected a brace by scoring his second goal of the night off a pass from Chris Loomis. The Lions took their 2 goal lead into halftime.
The action increased in the second half, but both teams failed to capitalize off their efforts. As the clock wound down, the Lions earned a direct kick. Loomis stepped over the ball and hit a spinning shot toward the Northridge goal. The goalie struggled to corral the shot and it slipped through his grasp and into the back of the net. The Lions controlled play until the final whistle and earned a hard fought victory. Ben Hollis stopped two shots on goal and collected the clean sheet for the Lions.
The JV Boys are back in action tomorrow night at home against Benjamin Russell. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
