The PHS Varsity Softball team shut out the Marbury Bulldogs 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at the PHS Softball Field. The victory completed a season sweep of the Bulldogs for the Lady Lions as they took both games against their county rival.
Melissa Townsend was the story in this game as she pitched a complete game shut out on only 92 pitches. Townsend went 7 innings allowing 4 hits and striking out 4 Bulldog batters.The Lady Lions defense was solid behind Townsend as they had no errors in the game.
Prattville bats were held in check as Keitt Trammell and McKenzie Harlow each had one hit to account for the 2 Prattville hits. Harlow also scored two runs and had an RBI. Emma Hindi had an RBI while Antinique Clay and Sam Hilyer both scored a run.
The victory takes the Lady Lion’s record to 26-10 overall and 6-0 in the area. Prattville will be back in action this Thursday afternoon as they travel to Wares Ferry Road in Montgomery to take on the Alabama Christian Academy Eagles. Prattville will then host their own tournament starting Friday afternoon at 4:30 and going through the day on Saturday. Other teams in the tournament are Wetumpka, Beauregard and Handley High School from Roanoke. Please make plans to attend this tournament this weekend and support your Lady Lions softball program.
